The sirens on Gloucester Road fade into the background as the heavy wooden door of the meeting house clicks shut. Inside, a circle of chairs faces an empty center table holding only a simple jug of water and a book of Advices and Queries. There is no altar, no organ music, and no leader waiting to direct your thoughts. Instead, we settle into a shared stillness that feels remarkably alive, grounding us in the present moment.
The Practice of Shared Silence
Meeting for worship lasts for one hour, during which we sit together in silent contemplation. Anyone may speak if they feel deeply prompted by the spirit, offering a brief spoken ministry that rises from the quiet and settles back into it. If the entire hour passes without a single word spoken, we still consider it a rich and deeply gathered meeting.
Your First Sunday Morning
We gather every Sunday morning at ten thirty, welcoming everyone exactly as they are. There is no dress code, no initiation, and absolutely no pressure to speak or believe in a specific dogma. Afterwards, we share simple fair-trade tea and biscuits, offering a warm space to chat, ask questions, or simply enjoy friendly company.
